3 JNU students killed in bike accident

According to the police, when the trio reached near the exit of the East gate inside the campus, the rider lost control of the bike, slipped and hit a divider. After hitting the divider, the bike rose in the air and rammed into a tree. Meanwhile, witnessing the accident, the other rider applied brakes to slow down. Before the accident took place, the guard near the administration block reportedly shared the message with the guard at East gate that bikers were travelling at high-speed. Soon after the message was aired, the guard at East gate heard a bang and ran towards the spot. Immediately, all three students were taken to  hospitals. One of them was rushed to AIIMS trauma centre whereas the other two were admitted at Safdarjung hospital. ‘One of the victims died on the spot and was pronounced dead on arrival whereas the remaining two succumbed to their injuries during treatment,’ a police official said.

It is yet to be ascertained if the students were riding under the influence of alcohol. Preliminary investigation suggests that the incident took place due to over speeding, police said.
