3 held for forcing Bengal girl into prostitution

Three persons were arrested on charges of human trafficking after a girl from West Bengal managed to escape from their captivity.

The girl in her early 20s was brought to Delhi on the pretext of being given a job but was sold off to three persons, including a woman, about 10 days ago. The girl was forced into prostitution and beaten up mercilessly for refusing to obey orders.

According to the police, the incident came to light on Tuesday night when the victim, who was being held hostage by the accused, managed to flee from their clutches and approached the police.

The police further said that the victim, who is the native of West Bengal, used to live along with her family in Guwahati, Assam. On 25 January, the girl was brought to Delhi by a distant relative on the pretext of getting her a job. The relative, however, sold her off to Naresh (40), his wife Archana (35) and Raju (26), who live on New Rohtak Road in Central Delhi.

The girl managed to flee on Tuesday night in an auto and approached the Police Control Room. Though the people who bought the girl have been arrested, the relative is still at large.
