2G case: SC refuses to exempt Karuna’s wife as witness

The Supreme Court on Thursday refused to exempt DMK chief M Karunanidhi’s wife Dayalu Ammal from deposing as a witness in the 2G scam case. However the court exempted her from personal appearance in trial court and directed that she be examined by a commission in Chennai.
‘No question of her exemption arises,’ a bench of justices G S Singhvi and K S Radhakrishnan said when the counsel appearing for Ammal’s daughter said she is not fit to depose.
