The case was reported to the police around 6 pm on Tuesday, when a body was found lying in an unconscious state on the footpath near the entry gate of the Prime Minister’s residence. He was rushed to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, where his condition was reported to be critical, said a police official.
He was identified as Jitendra Singh (26) and hails from Fatehabad in Haryana.
According to a source, he had got down from the bus and consumed a poisonous substance after which he became unconscious.
‘A suicide note was also recovered from his possession, which was addressed to the Prime Minister and the copy of a complaint written to the Superintendent of Police at Fatehabad was also attached with the suicide note,’ said a source.
He further said, in that suicide note, Jitendra had mentioned that he was cheated by three men – Subhash Bishnoi, Vishnu Bishnoi and Yuvraj Sharma – who promised to get him a job in Indian Railways and convinced him to shell out Rs 5 lakh for the same.
‘They later turned him down and refused to have accepted any money or documents from him. They even threatened him of dire consequences if he further went to any police official,’ said a source.
‘In the suicide note, Jitendra mentioned about no action being taken by the Fatehabad police even after repeatedly approaching them,’ the source added.
‘The man is in hospital right now and he is not fit to give any statement. Police is examining the notes and no case has been registered in this regard so far,’ said a senior police official.
Delhi Police will soon forward the complaints’ copy along with the suicide note to the Fatehabad police, he added.
