26-year-old arrested for head constable’s murder

26-year-old Paras, wanted in the murder of a Delhi police head constable, was arrested by the cops on Tuesday. The  murder accused, a member of the Neetu Dabodha criminal gang, had a reward of Rs 1 lakh on him. Paras had escaped from the custody of the Punjab police on 9 July, 2012.

'Paras was involved in more than 20 cases, including murder, attempt to murder, kidnapping-cum-murder, extortion, dacoity and robbery. He has a history of twice attacking police party sent to arrest him and also escaping from police custody,' said an official.

'It was in the knowledge of Special Cell, Delhi Police that Surender Malik, the leader of the Neetu Dabodha gang, has been committing extortion from various businessmen in Delhi and Haryana after he escaped from police custody on 2 April 2012. Malik also helped Paras, who was closely associated with him escaped from the custody of the Punjab police on 9 July, 2012 from the Sarai Rohilla area in Delhi,' said a police official. Officials from the special cell increased efforts to arrest Malik when it was revealed that he, along with associate Paras, were involved in the killing of a Delhi police head constable, Ram Kishan, posted at PS Kanjhawla, Delhi in the intervening night of 25 and 26 November, 2012.
