26 new swine flu cases reported

26 new cases of swine flu were reported on Monday, taking the total cases to 259 this year.
“Out of 138 test done on Monday for H1N1 flu, 26 were test positive for same,” said R N Das, a senior official from the Directorate of Health Services(DHS).
Recently, the national capital witnessed two more suspected deaths due to swine flu, which if confirmed will take the figure to six, according to health officials.
In a bid to tackle the increasing number of swine flu cases in Delhi, the health department has appointed surveillance officers to check the treatment of swine flu at the designated hospitals here in the Capital. A total of 17 government hospitals, five private hospitals and 8 laboratories have been designated by the health department to conduct the swine flu test and treatment.
The department also said it was working on adding four more laboratories for testing of swine flu samples.
Health experts say that swine flu can have symptoms like fever, coryza, cough, sore throat and body aches. It may last for one-two weeks.However, occasionally, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea and rash may also occur.
Prevention mainly involves implementation of the respiratory hygiene, cough etiquette and hand hygiene.
