25-yr-old shot dead in Mukherjee Nagar

Unidentified bike-borne assailants shot dead a 25-year-old man near his house in North-west Delhi’s Mukherjee Nagar area on late Tuesday night. According to the police, the victim has been identified as Amit Kumar, a native of Jhajjar district in Haryana. The motive behind the murder appears to be personal rivalry. Police, however, said that it could be one of the many angles.

The incident took place at around 10.30 pm when Kumar was walking back home from his shop in Indira Vikas Colony in Mukherjee Nagar area when two unidentified bike-borne men came and started firing at him, said police. Investigators said that six rounds were fired as they found more than half a dozen bullet shells at the crime scene. Meanwhile, doctors told police that Kumar received three bullet injuries. After firing at Kumar, the accused fled from the spot. Police said that one of the locals made a PCR call after which Kumar was taken to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead. 

Family members of Kumar said that he was living with his sister Babita and brother-in-law Anil for the past two years. Kumar was allegedly sent by his parents to Delhi to set up a business after he got embroiled in a fight with some people in his native place.

A team has also been sent to Jhajjar to question the people with whom Kumar was having rivalry. A case under relevant sections of the IPC has been registered at the Mukherjee Nagar police station against unknown persons.
