25-yr-old gang-raped in Vasant Kunj

A 25-year-old woman was allegedly gangraped by three men in a moving car in south Delhi’s Vasant Vihar area on Wednesday. All the accused have been arrested on Thursday.
The suspects, identified as Jitender, Jai Bhagwan and Ajay who are cab drivers, have been taken into custody, a senior police official said.
The incident took place at around 8.30 pm when the victim, who lives with her family in Nangal Devat Village in south Delhi, was returning from her relatives’ house.
In the mid-way, a white colored Skoda car stopped and one Jitender, said to be victim’s friend offered a lift to her. She agreed and sat inside the car. She noticed two other persons sitting at the rear seat who were later identified as Ajay and Jay Bhagwan.
Before she was dropped at her residence, Jitender offered her a soft drink that was allegedly laced with sedatives. She then became unconscious and all the three took turns to rape her in the moving car in Vasant Kunj area. After an hour, she was dumped at an isolated place. However, she managed to reach Vasant Kunj police station after regaining consciousness.
‘Based on her complaint, she was taken to the hospital for medical examination. The reports confirmed rape,’ the official said.
All the three accused are cab drivers and at the time of incident Jitender was driving his owner’s Skoda that bears a Haryana registration number and also has a Bar Council sticker.
‘The car was impounded and the owner has been asked to join the investigation,’ he added.
