25-year-old ‘strangled’ to death by husband

A 25-year-old woman was allegedly strangled to death by her husband at their residence in Uttam Nagar on Saturday. The accused also took away their children – two sons aged five and seven years with him while fleeing from the scene. He was arrested immediately, said a police official.
According to the police, Shahid had a violent argument with his wife as Jaibun Khatun (25) on the intervening night between Friday and Saturday, after which he allegedly strangled her to death. Shahid then wrapped his wife’s body in a blanket and put it on the bed. Then he went to the next room, in which their sons were sleeping. He woke them up and asked them to come out with him. He locked the door of his rented house, started his motorbike and fled with his sons.
On Saturday, Jaibun’s brother had come to visit her, but found a lock on the main door. He called her up, but her phone was switched off. He enquired with a few neighbours, who raised his suspicions; he then broke into the house with their. The body was soon discovered and one of them called up the police control room. A case under Section 302 (murder) was registered immediately at the Uttam Nagar police station.
