Hours after a man from Manipur was found allegedly murdered at south Delhi’s Kotla Mubarakpur area, another Manipuri youth — pursuing his masters from Delhi University — was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Malviya Nagar on Thursday morning.
The deceased, identified as V Shunni (23) was pursuing Masters degree from Aurobindo College in south Delhi and had rented a room at Malviya Nagar, not very far from the college. He had been living there for the past two months, said a police official, who further added that Shunni’s landlord had come to his apartment in the morning and knocked on his door for a long time. After getting no response, the landlord became suspicious and called the police control room. When a police team reached the spot, they had to break inside the apartment.
Shunni’s body was found inside lying on the bed. There were no external injuries on his body, nor was there any sign to suggest a probable conflict or scuffle that had taken place earlier in the room. His body was sent for post mortem and the cause of his death has not been ascertained yet, said a police official. ‘However, it seems a case of natural death but conclusions can’t be drawn until the postmortem reports are out,’ the official added.
He had allegedly organised a party at his residence the previous night with his friends, said a source.
Shunni’s friends told the police that the deceased consumed liquor at the party. The police are now probing whether he had taken drugs or medicines, an overdose of which could have caused his death.
