22-year-old nurse gang-raped in Gurgaon, two arrested

A 22-year-old nurse from the Triveni hospital at the old Railway Road in Gurgaon was allegedly gang-raped by five men, including the staff at the hospital. The Gurgaon Police registered an FIR against the accused, two of whom were arrested, but others are still absconding.

Both the arrested, identified as Abhay Pratap , a 25-year-old compounder, and Shyam, an ambulance driver, worked at the Triveni hospital. As per information received, Abhay had called the woman to his room in the hospital where he assaulted her along with the driver Shyam.

The victim, who hails from Jharkhand, alleged that she was raped five days ago by Pratap and Shyam. She told police that she first was raped by the compounder and the driver in the hospital, after which he took her to his house in Sector 5, where he was joined by other people and she was gang-raped.

The victim filed a police complaint at City police station on Monday under Section 376 D/506/34 of the Indian Penal Code, following which police arrested both the compounder and  the driver. The police have started their investigation and plan to soon to nab the other accused.
