22-month-old infant found dead in NE Delhi

A 22-month-old girl was found dead under mysterious circumstances in north east Delhi’s Mansarovar Park on Thursday.
‘The girl’s mother claimed that she was killed by her husband and in-laws’, police said. The deceased has been identified as Janki. Her parents Deepak and Rajni had filed for divorce, and a court had given Janki’s custody to Deepak two months ago.
According to police, Janki was found dead in Deepak’s house in Durgapuri Chowk. ‘The incident came to light after Deepak’s neighbours informed Rajni’s father Rakesh on Thursday afternoon,’ a police officer said.
Deepak took Janki to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, where she was declared dead. Rakesh informed the police claiming that there were several injury marks on Janki’s body. ‘There were multiple injury marks on Janki’s chest and neck,’ Rakesh said. Janki’s body has been sent for post-mortem.
