20 months on, people wait for DDA flats

In a reply to a RTI query, the Delhi Development Authority [DDA] has accepted that it has not issued even the demand letters to 693 sucessful allottees of its biggest housing sheme draw in 2011.

The successful allottees who wanted to fulfill their dream of a home in the capital are waiting for the demand letters, even after 20 months of allotment.

‘The DDA is making allotments on paper only, they don’t have the flats. The authority officers are cheating thousands of willing buyers,’ said Rahul Gupta, an RTI activist in Delhi, who had filed the application.

‘As per the rule of DDA, the authority can organise draw only after completing the flats or underconstruction flats or plots, but in this case, everything is on paper and allottees have not been informed about their flats or time of possession,’ added Gupta.

Through one of the biggest housing scheme draw on 18 April 2011, of about 7,50,000 applicants under the scheme, DDA chose 16,118 applicants .

n a RTI reply dated 8 October 2012, the Deputy Director [systems] informed that ‘out of 16,118 allotments, only 693 demand letter of Vasant Kunj and Dwarka have not been generated.’
