Two boys were killed when they tried to pull off a dangerous stunt as they tried to evade an incoming train in the last minute in East Delhi’s Akshardham area on Saturday evening.
The boys aged 15, were in the company of five other boys, who tried to showcase their daredevilry by shooting a dangerous stunt. While the five managed to escape unscathed, Shubham Saini and Yash Chindaliya mistimed the dangerous maneuver and were hit by the train.
The boys who survived informed the police but never gave their location fearing action against them. The two victims were declared brought dead and the five have been taken into police custody.
Speaking to Millennium Post, Yash’s father Rajesh Chindaliya said: “He was a sincere boy and was also supposed to give a test this Saturday. He had left the house at around 2 pm and promised to return in 15 minutes, but never came back”.
Yogesh and Shubham had met their friends at Commonwealth Games Village and had planned to take photos of them posing with their bikes. They had also hired a Cannon DSLR camera for six hours for the photoshoot.
However, the photoshoot soon turned into a dangerous stunt shoot as they came up with the idea of racing down the double tracks located in Akshardham Metro station. An eye witness said: “Six of them sat perched on their bikes waiting for the train and one of them was shooting the entire scene. Five of them somehow managed to get past the train but the other two could not escape the train and were hit by it.”
Shubham and Yash received grievous injuries on their heads. The other five who had panicked from the fatal accident decided to call the cops. However, they did not give their location.
The police were guided by the Railway Police, who informed them about the accident. “Shubham and Yash were bleeding profusely. We had rushed them to a government hospital but the doctors had pronounced them dead on arrival. We are currently questioning the five about the case.
The deceaseds’ families have been informed and their bodies have been handed over to their kin,” said a senior police official. Shubham’s family has taken his body to Himanchal Pradesh for the last rites.
