2 SA women held at IGI for trying to smuggle out party drugs

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on Monday, arrested two South African women who were allegedly smuggling out 25 kg of banned party drug – Pseudoephedrine worth Rs 1 crore at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA).

The incident occurred at around 2:30 am when CISF sleuths found the activities of two women – Margaret Sibongile Khumbane and Marcia Thembeke Chowdhury, suspicious, after they arrived at the airport terminal to catch the flight to Johannesburg via Abu Dhabi. “On profiling, the staff noticed the activities of these passengers, which appeared doubtful. Both the passengers were stopped for thorough checks, leading to the recovery of 25 kg of narcotics from their baggage concealed within the false ceilings of their suitcases,” said a CISF official. He then called in anti-narcotics sleuths, who reported the consignment to be 25kg of Pseudoephedrine.

In another incident at the IGI, CISF officials on Sunday, arrested a loader, identified as Vinod, after he was allegedly found stealing from passengers’ baggage.
