2 months on, student activist cremated

 <g data-gr-id="26">Sapam</g> Robinhood, a student of Class 11, who was allegedly killed in police action on July 8 during Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) agitation, was cremated at <g data-gr-id="15">Awaching</g> in Manipur’s Imphal East district on Thursday.

The body of Robinhood, of Ananda Singh Higher Secondary School, was claimed by his family on Thursday, a good 58 days after his death in the wake of an agreement between state government and representatives of JCILPS and the recently formed ‘Joint Action Committee on Brutal killing of <g data-gr-id="16">Sapam</g> Robinhood’ on September 1 last, a senior police officer said.

Following the agreement, <g data-gr-id="18">state</g> government released all 52 arrested people without any condition, the officer said.

The two sides further agreed that a complex be reserved by the state, where the funeral rites of <g data-gr-id="13">Sapam</g> will be performed and the government would provide financial and logistic support in the development works of the site including a memorial for the bereaved, the official said.

It was also agreed that all the arrested persons in connection with JCILPS movement be released unconditionally by the state government, a <g data-gr-id="12">JCLIPS</g> spokesman said.

2 govt offices burnt down in Churachandpur 
Violence and arson continued in Manipur’s trouble-torn Churachandpur town, where two government offices were burnt down by agitators while the four-day-old indefinite curfew was relaxed for some hours on Thursday. Police said the two offices are located near each other and the agitators protesting against the passage of three bills in the assembly first set fire to the divisional employment exchange at Head Quarter Veng this afternoon.
