Two separate incidents of sexual assault on minors were reported in Sadar police station and DLF phase II police station on Tuesday evening.
In the first incident, a nine-year-old minor was sexually harassed by a family friend for days. The victim used to accompany the wife of the accused to houses where she was working as a maid.Â
Luckily the story of her harassment reached a social worker, who then managed to rescue her. The girl was later taken for child counselling and then brought to the district child welfare committee (CWC), which penned down a report of the incident and informed the police about the same. The DLF Phase II police station registered a case against the accused under Sections 7 and 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The accused was arrested on late Tuesday night and was produced in court on Wednesday morning, after which he was sentenced to a jail term.
Another incident was reported from Jharsa village, where a 15-year-old was allegedly raped and molested for four days by her neighbour.Â
The victim and her mother used to work as domestic maids in the nearby locality. It was when her mother had gone out of the village for four days that the neighbour committed the crime. A case was registered against the accused at Sadar police station under sections of the POCSO Act and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.Â
