Two of the three doctors from Kerala, who had visited Nepal on a holiday, are among the dead in the quake that shook Nepal on Saturday.
Relatives have identified the bodies of AS Irshad, a Kasaragod native, and Deepak Thomas from Kannur at a hospital in Kathmandu.
Dr Abin Soori, the third in the group, was rescued with serious injuries and is expected to arrive in India by Tuesday evening.
Soori underwent treatment at a hospital in Kathmandu and is said to be stable.
His mother Anitha had said that she had spoken to him Monday morning. “He has some renal problem and needs immediate shifting to India for better treatment,” she said.
Earlier, it was reported that Dr Irshad and Dr Deepak were also safe. However, the families of both the doctors went to the Himalayan nation to check on them and had to face the cruel truth.
The death toll in the devastating quake reached 5,057 on Tuesday, according to Nepalese officials.
