2 jailed for trying to install Islamic regime in Malaysia

A father and son duo has been sentenced up to 18 years in prison in Malaysia for planning terror attacks aimed at installing an Islamic regime in the country by launching a jihad to kidnap people.
Murad Halimmuddin was sentenced to 18 years in jail by a Malaysian High Court. His son was jailed for
12 years.
The father, who was a ?former detainee of the Internal Security Act, had joined the Islamic State terror group in Syria and returned as a “spiritual leader” to encourage others to perform terror activities here.
His son Abu Daud helped to coordinate and plan these activities locally.
The two were among six individuals detained on April 5 for allegedly promoting terrorism in Malaysia.
Murad was also charged with knowingly supporting a terrorist movement. He was jailed for 18 years for each charge, but both sentences were to run concurrently.
Deputy public prosecutor Shukor Abu Bakar said it was becoming a dangerous trend for Malaysians wanting to perform jihad in Malaysia.
