In another tragic accident on the infamous Yamuna Expressway on Friday, two persons, including the driver died, while other eight members of the family were gravely injured. The injured were rushed to the Kailash Hospital where they are undergoing treatement.
The accident was reported at 75km from zero point in Greater Noida, when a speeding Innova car carrying 10 persons including a woman and three children, collided with a DCM Toyota. The collision was so intense that the driver and one of the passengers lost their lives. The family was returning to Noida from Agra.
Anurag Singh, circle officer, first on the scene, said that the reason for the accident was the overspeeding Innova.
The 23.4 km long Yamuna Expressway that connects Greater Noida with Noida and New Delhi was conceived with the idea to reduce the travel time between the cities. However, the number of accidents on the expressway and the rate of accidents on the six lane road is much higher than the national average.
