2 constables arrested after complaint made on 1031

The Anti-Corruption Cell on Saturday caught two police constables red-handed asking for bribe and arrested them after receiving calls on the anti-corruption helpline 1031. According to the sources, these police officers were demanding for Rs 3,000 as bribe from a worker who was collecting donations for HIV patients by selling sweaters.
The complainant used to sell sweaters in a van parked on the roadside in west Delhi. He used to donate his profit to for helping HIV patients. Sometimes, he also used to ask his customers to donate for HIV patients.
Two constables, named Sandeep and Ishwar, asked him to pay Rs 3,000 montly to be allowed to carry on with his work. On Saturday morning, however, when the police officers came to collect the bribe, the victim’s associates captured the incident on camera.
The complainant then made a call to the anti-corruption helpline number. Later, on the basis of the footage and allegations made by him, the two constables were arrested.
