Two new Centralised Ambulance Trauma Services (CATS) ambulances parked at the Institute of Humans Behaviour and Allied Sciences (IHBAS) campus were destroyed after they caught fire on Friday afternoon.
Even as the cause of fire is unknown, it is beleived that there was a short circuit. A senior CATS official confirmed that the two ambulances destroyed are the set of new CATS ambulances purchased by the Delhi government recently. “Out of the 110 ambulances, we have received 55 ambulances. Out of these 55 ambulances two ambulances caught fire at around 3 pm,” the official said.
Four fire tenders were rushed to the spot and the fire was doused within 30 minutes. There have been no injuries.
