An 18-year-old girl, pursuing B.Tech from Indraprastha Engineering College, was reported missing from Vasundhara area of Ghaziabad on Thursday. Police said the family members have claimed that she had been kidnapped and have lodged a complaint in this regard. The police, however, suspect that she has gone out somewhere with friends as no ransom call has been received yet.
The cops said that Abvinav, brother of Shailja, reported the matter to them that his sister has gone missing since afternoon. The complainant said that they both had come to Ghaziabad from their native place in Sultanpur district. When they both reached the city, his sister moved at one of their relatives house in Vasundhra’s Sector-VI area. After meeting with the relatives, she left for her hostel, located in the campus of the college.
At around 2 pm, she texted her mother in Sultanpur that she has gone been kidnapped by unidentified men. Later her phone went on switch off mode.
The family immediately contacted the relatives who confirmed her departure around 9 am. A missing complaint has been lodged at Indirapuram police station.
“We have registered a case and are investigating the matter. As the family has not received any call regarding her kidnapping, we suspect that she would have gone with her friends. We are investigating the matter from all angles and are trying to trace her location with the help of surveillance,” said a police official investigating the case.
