18 blood donation camps to be held

To overcome the estimated shortage of nearly 40 lakh units of blood, a campaign is being launched on Wednesday across the nation by Maharashtra-based Samruddha Jeevan Foundation. Over 2,000 blood donation camps will be organised across 20 states covering 413 cities.

Sources said nearly 5 lakh donors would be targeted on Thursday and a tie-up has been done with 1,500 blood banks to store collected units. In Delhi alone, 18 centres are being set-up with two centres in Delhi University’s north campus. A third camp is being organised at ARSD College in Dhaula Kuan area. Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni is likely to visit the donation camp at Press Club of India.
