17 cars’ accessories stolen in two days from Swaroop Nagar

A gang of auto-lifters allegedly stole car accessories including EVMs of 17 cars in a matter of two consecutive days under the jurisdiction of the Swaroop Nagar area of North-west Delhi, police said on Monday.

Sources said that according to the locals of the Nathupura and DCM colony, a gang of auto-lifters first committed the theft of 15 car accessories on October 29. 

They alleged that they had reported the matter to the local police. However, a day after, that is, on the night of Diwali, CCTV cameras installed in the area recorded how three to four men, in their twenties, trespassed the wall bordering the colony gate. 

While in one CCTV footage, it is clearly shows that one auto-lifter is helping another auto-lifter to scale the wall, the third is seen walking down the street while the fourth auto-lifter is seen opening and stealing the ECMs/EVMs of the cars.

Moreover, the locals alleged that to avoid getting caught by the residents, the gang of auto-lifters had allegedly fed biscuits to the street dogs so that they do not bark.

Police said that they have registered a case at the Swaroop Nagar police station under relevant sections of the IPC . Police said that they are scanning the CCTV footage. Further investigation is underway.
