16-yr-old jumps off school building

A 16-year-old girl on Wednesday jumped from the second floor of her school building after her teacher scolded her for reading a love letter in the classroom, police said. The girl fractured her left leg but is out of danger. The incident took place around 10 am in Jamia Nagar area of south Delhi.
‘The Class 9 girl jumped from the second floor of the school building as her teacher scolded her for apparently reading a love letter,’ a police officer said.
The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital from where she was referred to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences. The girl also had fractures in her jaw.
Police said they were yet to register any case against the teacher as they are waiting for the girl’s statement.
‘The school authorities and the girl’s classmates are being questioned,’ the police officer said.
