16-year-old girl gang-raped

According to police, the victim lives with her parents in the area and studies in a government school nearby. Police said that on 25 February, after she went missing from her house, her parents approached the local police station to file a missing persons complaint. A search operation was launched but the girl remained untraceable.
On 4 March, investigating sleuths learnt that the girl was found abandoned somewhere in the Janakpuri area. Immediately, a team was sent to the spot and rushed the victim to a nearby hospital, where she was given medical assistance. Doctors discharged her from the hospital following treatment.
Meanwhile, the victim, in her complaint to the police, alleged that she was gang-raped by three persons including one of her neighbours. The girl, however, could not recall the sequence of events and maintained that she had left her house along with her female friend. The investigating sleuths are questioning her further to draw a clear picture of the entire episode.
Police have filed a case under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the three accused over the victim’s statement. The girl’s medical report also confirmed rape. A team comprising senior police officers has been formed and pressed into service to nab culprits, who were absconding. Police suspect the accused could be juveniles. Further investigations are underway.
