Despite stern warnings coming from Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung, power cuts will still continue in Delhi. The power distribution companies (Discoms) BSES Yamuna power Limited and Tata power Delhi Distribution Limited (TPDDL) said there will be no supply of electricity from 12 May to 14 May in more than 156 localities of the city, while load-shedding will last for five hours or even more.Â
Both discoms informed that they have to cut off power due to replacement of faulty distribution boxes, services, cables, piercing connectors-2, removal of illegal tapping, load balancing on light tension wire network and overall maintenance etc.Â
The areas covered under Reliance-led BSES (Yamuna) will be more affected by this shortage in supply, in comparison to areas that receive electricity from Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (TPDDL). In 37 areas that receive electricity from the BSES (Yamuna) discom, power will be unavailable for approximately seven hours.
Meanwhile, in 71 areas receiving electricity from TPDDL, power cuts are expected to run up to a maximum of four hours. According to Delhi Transco Limited, BYPL will go on planned maintenance between 11 am to 4 pm on 12, 13 and 14 May respectively.Â
Localities facing power cuts as a result will include Chandni Chowk, Darya Ganj, Dilshad Garden, Karkardooma, Krishna Nagar, Mayur Vihar Phase-1, 2 and 3 and Nand Nagari. The areas under Tata Delhi Distribution Limited (TPDDL) will have to face power cuts lasting for two to four hours from 12 May to 14 May including Narayana, Narela, Civil Lines, Badli, Shakti Nagar and Model Town.
