14-yr-old in desperate search for canine friend

14-year-old Kasim Khan is not eating, playing or smiling since last three days as Zoro, his one-year-old Siberian Husky pet dog, was kidnapped by a group of five to six men in South Delhi’s Vasant Kunj area, days before its first birthday. He is leaving no stone unturned to find his pet, who was like a younger brother to him.

Instead of enjoying his summer vacation, the class 9 student of DAV Public School, is hunting for Zoro. With Zoro’s photo in hand, he is visiting every nearby colony of Vasant Kunj enclave to get some information about the pet.

According to Aftab Khan, Kasim’s father: “June 3 was like a usual morning. I got up at about 6 am so that I can take Zoro out for a walk in the nearby park. Zoro was playful that day and suddenly he started barking on an Innova car in the parking area. On peeping inside the car, I found that the occupants have caught the pigs and they were stuffed inside the car.”

“Meanwhile, Zoro started barking on them and in fear they drove off the car. Zoro being an active dog, chased them and managed to over take the car. At times Zoro came in front of the car and the driver applied brakes. This happened thrice. However after few minutes, before they could vanish from my sight, they stopped the car to open the door and Zoro jumped inside. They immediately closed the door and ran away,” Aftab said while recalling the incident.

A call was made to the police control room and later he went to Vasant Kunj (South) police station to file a complaint. A case under section—379 of the Indian Penal Code has been registered and further investigation is underway.
