14-yr-old gang-raped in moving car, 5 arrested

A 14-year-old girl was allegedly abducted and gang-raped by six men in a moving car in West Delhi’s Jai Vihar area on Thursday morning. Police arrested five of them and stated that she knew one of the accused very well. The accused persons have been identified as Rahul, Suraj, Sandeep, Ramesh and Narender. One of the accused, Aman is still on the run.

According to the police, the minor girl, a class VII student, was heading towards her school in Jai Vihar area at around 7.30 am on Thursday morning when one of her neighbours, Rahul, told her that he will drop her to school. Driving a taxi which belongs to a call centre, Rahul along with his two other friends, Aman and Sandeep, took the girl to the Dichaon Kalan area and were then joined by Suraj, Ramesh and Narender. After sexually assaulting her, they were going to drop the girl back to her house when their taxi was intercepted by the traffic policemen at Mundka signal.

“One of the traffic policemen, ASI Om Prakash became suspicious on seeing a girl in school uniform with six men in the taxi and stopped them. On being questioned, the minor girl revealed that she had been sexually assaulted by them. Somehow, the cops were able to detain five of the accused persons while Aman managed to flee from the spot,” said Pushpendra Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (West). The official said that the cab used in the crime belonged to a call center where Narender used to work as a driver.

A case has been registered at the Ranhola police station under Sections 376 (rape) and 6 of the POCSO Act against the accused persons. Police are trying to nab Narender.
