11 killed in tractor-trolley crash in Jhansi

Eleven people died, while nine were injured on Saturday night in a road mishap in Jhansi district of UP, police said on Sunday.

Police said a number of pilgrims from Bhujaund village in Moth were going in two tractor trollies to Ratangarh Mata temple in Madhya Pradesh. On the way, some pilgrims got down to offer prayers at a temple opposite to the forest department’s office, said an MP police spokesperson, Nityanand Rai.

A speeding truck rammed into the stationary tractor trolleys, killing nine pilgrims on the spot. Two others succumbed to their injuries in a hospital, police said.
