10,000 Panchayats to be linked with Internet soon : CM Raman

Chhattisgarh  Chief Minister Raman Singh on Thursday said that efforts were going on a war-footing on linking up the Internet facilities at the Panchayats’ level.  The target is to connect the CM, Panchayat Minister with the  the about 10,000 panchayats’ Sarpanchs-Panchs from the capital itself through video-conferencing.

He was discussing the Internet facility with the newly-appointed officers of the Indian Information Services at his official residence. The officers are on a study tour of Chhattisgarh. While referring to the Balrampur-Ramanujganj district, CM said that all the 340 Gram Panchayats of the district had been up-linked and connected to the entire country and globe. The project had been completed two-and-half-months ago.

The officers also presented Raman Singh with a memento and listened to his views with rapt attention. CM Singh said that Chhattisgarh administration is transparent and Public Distribution System (PDS) is totally computerised. He further explained various social welfare schemes of the authorities.

Under the Food Security Act about 60 lakh families under the Below Poverty Line (BPL) had been empowered with Right to Food. Even in the age of print, television and social media, radio still holds a sway in the large parts of the far-flung regions of Chhattisgarh. Radio as a medium provides information, education and entertainment to the masses. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addresses ‘Man Ki Baat’ and on a similar pattern ‘Raman Ke Goth’ is aired on Chhattisgarh Akaashwani on the second Sunday of every month.
