100 RO drinking water units to be set up

The Delhi Jal Board (DJB) with a power firm will install 100 Reverse Osmosis (RO) water- dispensing units in the city’s north and north-western parts in three years to provide clean drinking water.

The DJB inked an agreement with Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (TPDDL) in this regard here on Tuesday in the presence of the Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung and Delhi government’s senior officials.

The agreement entails setting up of 10 RO units by March 2015, followed by 45 each in 2016 and 2017, an official release said.

“The capital cost and operations and maintenance cost will be borne by the TPDDL and DJB will
facilitate the initiative by providing land and the raw water for the plants. TPDDL will be responsible for the quality of water provided,” it said.

The Lt Governor lauded the efforts of TPDDL and DJB for working together in enhancing water supply system in the city.

“This government-corporate partnership will help to explore new opportunities to benefit society,” Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb  Jung said.
