Addressing media in the national capital, senior BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu said it has been a ‘small yet significant beginning’ for the government.
Naidu stressed on areas such as leadership, governance, turn around in functioning of Parliament, centre-state relations, economy, foreign policy, strengthening defence, agriculture, employment generation infrastructure development, addressing bottlenecks to economic growth, converting challenges into opportunities amongst other steps taken by the Narendra Modi-led government.
Naidu said that the prime minister-led initiatives have strengthened the governance model in the country.
Parliamentary affairs minister Venkaiah Naidu also criticized the opposition for objecting to the appointment of former Chief Justice of India P Sathasivam as the governor of Kerala saying they are suffering from ‘selective dementia’.
Meanwhile, on the issue of Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, the minister reiterated government’s stand saying, ‘It has nothing to do with it and the decision is the prerogative of the Speaker. There is misconception on the issue about government’s role.’ Naidu said that the Speaker has taken the decision as per the law and tradition. However, he refused to answer the question about the Supreme Court’s observation regarding the role of LoP in the Lok Pal selection committee.
He also slammed Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi for criticizing the government saying ‘Gandhi’s own party leaders are not listening to him why should BJP bother about his comments.’
