100 CCTV cams to be put in place in 10 police stations

Delhi Police are all set to install around 100 CCTV cameras in 10 police stations across the city.

These cameras will be installed at Madhu Vihar, Jagat Puri, GTB Enclave, Maurya Enclave, Rohini (North), K N Katju Marg, Vasant Kunj (North), Saket, South Campus, Rajouri Garden police station.

Police intend to install CCTV system in each newly created Police station which will be monitored by the SHO and inside the duty officer room in the police station. Recording of 24 hours for 45 days will be available.

The CCTV system will have automatic SMS facility to senior officers and SHO concerned in case the recording/camera fails. The SIM card shall be provided by Delhi Police. However, other hardware/software needed for SMS facility will be provided by the service provider of the CCTV cameras.

These cameras will be capable of 360 degree pan rotation. According to Delhi Police, the new cameras will be hi-tech which will enhance the entire process of CCTV recording.

Meanwhile, earlier on February this year Delhi high court pulled up Delhi Police for its failure to install CCTV cameras in all its police stations in the national Capital, despite having taken the initiative 13 years ago. “That was 13 years ago. This is surprising that after expiry of 13 years, the Delhi Police want to carry out a pilot project without any time schedule,” a Bench of justices B D Ahmed and Sanjeev Sachdeva said.
