One of the three men, who allegedly molested and robbed a 32-year-old woman in a moving train  a couple of days ago, has been arrested, the police said on Sunday.

According to the police, the incident took place in the ladies compartment of Jan Nayak Express. They added that the woman was travelling alone in the compartment as other four women, who were sitting in that bogie, deboarded at the Shahdara railway station. Three men boarded the train between Shahdara and Old Delhi railway stations and entered the ladies’ compartment, they said.

The police said when the three found the woman alone in the compartment, two of them snatched her bag, while the third accused allegedly molested her. When she opposed, the accused allegedly thrashed her. Two constables on board the train saw the act and managed to catch one of the accused.

After the train arrived at the Old Delhi railway station, the man and the woman were taken to a hospital. The police said the accused was identified as Shahbaz (21). He was later arrested and booked under relevant sections under the IPC. The police found that Khan was earlier involved in criminal cases. The police have formed a team to nab the two other accused. The police said the woman is a native of Bihar and had come to Delhi to attend a family event.
