1 dead, 2 hurt in fire at Seetapur export factory

A man was killed, while two others were injured when an export factory in South-west Delhi’s Seetapur area caught fire late Saturday night.
According to the fire department, they received a call about a major fire in the factory around 11.55 pm. Eight fire tenders rushed to the spot and it took four hours to douse the blaze.
The police rushed the three injured persons, who were rescued from the factory, to the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital. One of them succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The other two, identified as Aman (19) and Ram Kumar (27), are undergoing treatment. The duo received 30 per cent burns, police said, quoting doctors treating the two.
According to the police, around 17 people were working in the factory when the fire broke out.
Most of the workers managed to come out of the factory. An investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause of the fire, police said.
On Saturday morning, Millennium post had reported about 150 shanties gutted in a fire at Sainik Nagar slum clusters in South-west Delhi’s Dwarka area.
