Kolkata: The Centre is going to award Bankura district administration for the category ‘Promoting quality education with an equitable and inclusive classroom environment’ under the Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Public Administration 2022.
According to an official, the Central team was impressed with the digital connectivity that has been established in schools of the remotest block, including Joypur and Kotulpur in the district.
The district was judged through power point presentation, followed by a presentation in Delhi and later a field verification from the Central team and ultimately a response to the questions from the committee.
Moreover, an essay of 1,200 to 1,500 words has been requested from the District Magistrate (DM) which will be published in a Coffee Table Book containing selected “innovative / priority programmes’ that were shortlisted for Prime Minister’s Awards 2022. They have also been requested to share eight to ten photographs for the book.
On March 10, Bankura DM K Radhika Aiyar received an intimation from the Central government that the district’s education programme had been shortlisted under the mentioned category. It had been shortlisted for consideration by the Empowered Committee chaired by the Cabinet Secretary. The committee had interacted with the DM on March 18.
