A youth jumped in front of a running train at Kalighat Metro station on Saturday morning. But to everyone's amazement, the man survived after rakes went over his body.

The Metro officials and Railway Protection Force (RPF) jawans rescued him who was trapped under the rake. He was slightly injured and visibly scared. Police learnt that the victim, identified as Asim Das, came from Assam to Kolkata in search of a job. The reason of his suicide attempt is still unknown.

Soon after the incident, the electricity connection of the Metro track was disconnected.

Das lay under the rake for around 4 minutes. He was pulled up from there onto the platform and he soon walked out of the station, paying no heed to the RPF's request to take some rest. However, the train service was disrupted for around half-an-hour.
