Kolkata: New Town police arrested a youth for his alleged involvement in a theft incident that occurred in the house of one Avijit Ghatak at Hatiara Shanta Abasan on November 2.
On the basis of a specific complaint police started a probe in this regard. The accused has been identified as Ananda Biswas who is a resident of Gouranganagar.
He has been booked under various sections. The accused was taken in police custody for interrogation. According to the preliminary investigation, police suspect that the accused might have been involved in other incidents of theft. Police are interrogating the accused to know the names of others involved in the theft that took place in New Town.
During a raid police have seized a huge amount of valuables and hard cash around Rs 5,000 from his possession.
Cops recovered gold necklace of around six pieces, 1 gold punjabi button, around 15 pair of gold earrings, two pieces of gold lockets, 3 gold finger rings, 1 piece of silver tray, one pair of gold bangles, Two gold conchs, five pairs of gold coral bangles and one gold chain.
A detailed probe has
been initiated.
