The villagers of Goyalbari in Jalpaiguri district alleged that some Border Security Force (BSF) jawans beat them up over issues of cattle smuggling.
The villagers alleged they had gone to a Border Out Post (BOP) of 155 battalion there. Their intension was to lodge complaint with the BSF over increasing cattle smuggling issues. But while complaining with the BSF, some villagers involved in a tiff and the jawans allegedly beat some villagers.
On the other hand, local sources said, it was not a one-sided fight. The villagers pelted stones at the jawans. Some jawans were minutely inured. One villager was injured and he was taken to the Jalpaiguri Sub Divisional Hospital.
Villagers said that the name of the injured villager is Moksedul Haque. The villagers demanded stringent action against the cattle smuggling cases. They further alleged that BSF did not take adequate action against the smugglers. But they were beaten up when they tried to protest.
