Kailash Vijayvargiya, BJP's national general secretary, did not turn up at the office of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at Bhawani Bhavan on Thursday as a Bhopal court had stayed the summon in connection with the alleged child trafficking case in Jalpaiguri.
It was on July 20 when the CID had summoned Vijayvargiya and the party's MP Roopa Ganguly for interrogation. They were served notices under Section 160 CrPC. They were directed to turn up at the CID's office on July 27 and 29. Vijayvargiya was supposed to turn up at the office of the state's investigating agency on Thursday. He didn't turn up as the Bhopal court has given a stay on the summon issued by the CID. According to the top brass of the CID, they are also taking necessary legal measures and would also move court challenging the stay order on the summon. The decision to move court has been taken considering that interrogation of Vijayvargiya is quite relevant in connection with the child trafficking case in which there was an allegation of children being trafficked including newborns even to foreign countries.
The CID had also summoned Prashant Sareen, the confidential secretary of Vijayvargiya and one Vinayak Mishra in this connection. It may be recalled that the CID officers had come to know about alleged involvement of Vijayvargiya and Roopa Ganguly in this connection after the arrest of the former state secretary of BJP's Mahila Morcha Juhee Chakraborty. She was arrested from Batasi village in the Indo-Nepal border on March 1.
