Kolkata: The West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) will issue recommendation letters for the regularisation of Special Education Teachers on April 7 and 8, in compliance with directions of the Supreme Court.

The move is part of a separate regularisation process for around 680 Special Educators who have been working under the state Samagra Shiksha Mission (PBSSM) for several years. Officials clarified that this exercise is distinct from the ongoing recruitment process for 1,941 posts of Special Education Teachers notified through the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET), 2025 and the 1st State Level Selection Test (SLST), 2025.

“This is a regularisation process for those already in service. It is separate from the recruitment process for fresh vacancies, which will be taken up after due procedure,” a commission official said.

Earlier, on March 14 and 16, the commission issued recommendation letters to 95 candidates for regularisation. Officials indicated that the current phase will cover about 130 candidates, taking the total number of regularised teachers to around 225.

The recommendation letters will be distributed from the commission’s office at Acharya Sadan in Salt Lake for candidates currently serving in Coochbehar, Dakshin Dinajpur, Hooghly, Howrah, Jalpaiguri and Jhargram districts.

The commission said details of eligible candidates under the PBSSM scheme will be uploaded on April 4 on its official website. Candidates have been advised to follow updates online and to carry eight recent coloured stamp-size photographs along with all required documents and testimonials, including identity proof in original and self-attested copies.

Meanwhile, the recruitment process for the 1,941 posts remains pending, with examination schedules likely to be taken up after the election period, officials indicated.
