Two arrested for extorting money on pretext of providing jobs

Kolkata: Two persons were arrested on charges of collecting thousands of rupees from job aspirants in
New Town.
Police had initiated a probe based on the complaint lodged by a job aspirant and arrested the two persons from Baguiati and New market area.
Police said one Rahul Shukla, who is a resident of Picnic Garden in South Kolkata, had lodged a complaint with the police alleging that he was cheated after he gave a good amount of money to get a job.
He alleged that he had applied for a job in a company whose office was situated in New Town.
There were many more job aspirants who had deposited money with the company to get a job in different posts including service engineers.
Police was informed that something around Rs 25,000 to Rs 30,000 was taken from each of the job aspirants.
The police are, however, yet to ascertain the total amount of money they had collected by assuring jobs.
Based on the complaint, police initiated a probe and came to know the whereabouts of the people against whom the complaints were lodged.
Based on a tip off, cops conducted a raid in Baguiati area and arrested one Kamaljit Choudhury, alias, Ankit Mittal (31). Kamaljit is a resident of Howrah.
Police later came to know about another person who was also allegedly involved in it. They conducted a raid in New Market area and arrested one Abhijit Dhar, alias, Rahul Rabi Das (24).
Abhijit is a resident of Chandernagore in Hooghly and he was in the New Market area when the police conducted a raid and arrested him.
Police have initiated a case against different sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) on charges of cheating (420 IPC), criminal conspiracy (120B) and acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention (34 IPC).
