Twin incidents of snag give tough time to Metro passengers

Update: 2019-08-31 17:25 GMT

Kolkata: Two separate incidents of disruption in Metro services occurred on Saturday, leading to inconvenience for the passengers. The first incident took place in Netaji Bhavan at around 3.45 pm, when a Kavi Subhas bound rake developed technical snag. A door of the Metro rake did not open at the station, triggering panic among the commuters. The rake was halted at the station and the passengers were asked to deboard. Metro staff members posted at the station rushed to the spot, along with Railway Protection Force (RPF) jawans. After the passengers were evacuated, the empty rake was taken to the car shed. Metro Railway officials did not take any risk, keeping in mind the recent incident in which a middle-aged man was killed after falling from a running train inside the tunnel between Park Street and Maidan stations. In the second incident, another Kavi Subhas bound rake was halted at Jatin Das Park station after two doors of a coach remained shut owing to some technical problems. All the passengers travelling in the rake were eventually evacuated to avoid any untoward incident.
