TMC changes Sabhapatis of 5 blocks, post dissatisfactory poll result in Jhargram
Kolkata: Trinamool Congress has changed Sabhapatis of five out of eight blocks, after dissatisfactory result of the party in Jhargram in the Panchayat elections.
It has been learnt that sabhapatis of Jamboni, Sankrail, Lalgarh, Belpahari and Jhargram Gramin have been changed on Monday.
There was a detailed review of the result of the Panchayat elections and the party leaders have identified the areas that led to the "dissatisfactory" results in Jhargram.
Partha Chatterjee, Secretary General of Trinamool Congress, went to Jhargram soon after the Panchayat election results and spoke to local leaders to prepare a report in this regard.
The loopholes were identified and senior leaders of the party have started taking necessary steps to iron out the same, with the Lok Sabha poll scheduled to be held in 2019.
The core committee meeting of the party after the Panchayat elections, was held for the first time on June 21. While addressing the core committee meeting, Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee had mentioned that she herself will supervise the party's work at Jhargram in Jangalmahal.
Sources said that besides changing Sabhapatis of five blocks in Jhargram, steps have also been taken for the party's work in the district level as well.
Trinamool Congress MP Manas Bhuniya and the party's MLA from Pingla Saumen Mahapatra, who is also the state Irrigation minister, were entrusted with the responsibility of assisting Trinamool Congress leader Ajit Maiti in the district level.
Sources said that discussions were also held with a couple of leaders of the party from the region and they have also been asked to take necessary steps to ensure better result of the party in the Lok Sabha elections.
