Three held in abduction case of B'deshi nationals

Kolkata: Police arrested three persons, including a woman, on Wednesday in connection with the abduction of two Bangladeshi nationals.

The prime accused of the case, identified as Salim alias Salim Reza alias Mizanur, was arrested after a long chase.

On Monday, two persons, identified as Basir Mia and Iliyash of Faridpur in Bangladesh, lodged a complaint at the Entally police station stating that they were abducted and extorted by several miscreants, including a person named Salim.

Mia also stated that he and Iliyash run a business of garments in Bangladesh. They knew Salim as he is also involved in the same kind of business. On November 7, Mia and Iliyash met Salim near Sealdah railway station and went to a mall nearby to have some snacks.

At the mall, Mia told Salim that he has come to the city to buy gold jewellery After they had their food, Salim reportedly told Mia and Iliyash that he has some work at Guma in North 24-Parganas and also asked the duo to come along. Meanwhile, Salim got in touch with his associates who were outside of Guma railway station. After reaching Guma, Mia and Iliyash were abducted on gunpoint.

Later, Salim and his associates compelled Mia to call up his father in Bangladesh and pay ransom of Rs six lakh.

During the investigation, the police located Salim in Canning. When the police went to nab him on Wednesday, Salim allegedly fled the spot on a bike. Police also chased him and was able to intercept Salim in Patuli with assistance from local police. After Salim was nabbed, police interrogated him and arrested two more persons, identified as Salauddin Mondal and Nasima Bibi, from Habra in North 24-Parganas. Search is on to nab other accused persons.
