Kolkata: Harindra Rao, general manager, Eastern Railway, honoured three staff of ER with Safety Award in a meeting held at its headquarters at Fairlie Place on Wednesday, for their alertness and prompt action which averted a possible accident related to train operation.
Pheku Yadav, technician, Asansol Division, detected some problem in a coach of 13020 Down Bagh Express while on duty at Asansol station platform on August 7 and rectified the same immediately. His alertness averted any possible untoward incident.
Meanwhile Dhanpat Sah, loco pilot, Bardhaman, Howrah Division, while on duty in 37811 Howrah-Bardhaman Local on August 14, noticed a truck standing on the railway tracks. He immediately stopped the train by applying emergency brake and
blew horn. The truck driver managed to bring the vehicle just outside the tracks. Alertness and prompt action shown by Sah averted a serious accident.
Lastly Rajib Barman, porter, Pandooah, Howrah Division, on getting information from the station manager, promptly extinguished the fire in the Front SLR of 53041 Howrah-Jaynagar Passenger, while on duty on July 29. His promptness averted a possible mishap.
Rao also held a meeting with the principal officers and DRMs to review the progress of safety related work and advised all concerned to augment the safety and maintenance of punctuality of train services.
