Kolkata: The Special task Force (STF) of Kolkata Police has nabbed two Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) terrorists from Murshidabad and seized explosive elements like aluminium dust, spirit of ether and sulphuric acid from their possession.
According to sources, sleuths recently got a tip-off about some JMB members hiding somewhere in Murshidabad. Immediately, the information was passed on to the Murshidabad District Police.
Later, police got hold of their location and STF and Murshidabad District Police's Special Operation Group (SOG) raided the area and arrested the duo, identified as Moshibur Rahman alias Farooque and Ruhul Amin alias Saifullah of Raghunathganj in Murshidabad.
It was later revealed that they were planning to make acid bombs and attack police to release Kausar who is presently in judicial custody. He was arrested by NIA for his connection with the Khagragarh blast in Burdwan.
Later, STF sleuths came to know that Ariful had come to Kolkata to hatch a plan to release Kausar from Alipore Jail. For that he was doing a recce on how to act against the police and NIA to make way for Kausar.
After arresting him, sleuths have found route maps which police and NIA use to take Kausar to Bankshall Court and back to Alipore Jail every 14 days. A map of Kolkata has been found in his possession as well.
Previously, he had implemented such operations in Bangladesh to release Kausar from Bangladesh Police successfully.
Kolkata Police officials are marking the arrest as a success as several major JMB terrorists have been nabbed during this month. Previously, in the first week of this month, STF had nabbed a JMB terrorist, identified as Abdul Matin, from Kerala.
Later, another JMB terrorist identified as Ariful Islam,
alias Arif, alias Ataur, alias Akjtarul, alias Mota Anas, alias Shahid of Barpeta was nabbed in Assam, who was wanted by NIA in the Bodh Gaya serial blast case.
On February 8, another JMB member identified as Manirul Islam was arrested from Sealdah area. Ariful was arrested on February 16. Following his arrest, sleuths had arrested another JMB member, identified as Asif Iqbal alias Nadeem, on February 18.
