Kolkata: A woman aged about 22 years has been arrested by the Special Task Force (STF) of state police from Baduria in North 24-Parganas on Thursday, for having connection with terrorist outfits Islamic State (IS) and Lashkar-e-Taiba.
She was produced at the Bashirhat Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate's (ACJM) Court and has been remanded to 14 days police custody.
According to sources, a few months ago STF officials were tipped-off about a college student identified as Tania Parvin of Malayapur village in Baduria, who allegedly had some connection with terrorist organisations.
The doubt of sleuths grew while checking her background and bank account details. It was found that transactions worth huge amounts of money used to take place often from her account.
As her family is known to be a needy one, police started scanning her activities.
While doing so, it was found that Parvin often used make international calls. Police also came to know that she used to spread pro-jihadi messages through social media.
While gathering information about Parvin, cops came to know that she used to engage youths for her campaigns and had visited several parts of India.
On Thursday morning, STF officials conducted a raid at her house with assistance from Baduria police station and found objectionable literature. Several documents regarding her effort to employ youths for jihadi campaigns were also seized.
